Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Rūmī — poet, mystic, theologian. His Masnavi is one of the greatest works of spiritual literature ever written. For Rumi, the separation from the divine is the source of all longing, and all longing is already a form of return. Music — sama — was not entertainment. It was a path.
